Drawer & Slide Upgrades in Lake Forest, IL Near Me

Drawers take more abuse than any other part of a kitchen, and older ones tend to bind, sag, or stop short of fully opening. Upgrading to full-extension ball-bearing slides lets you reach the back of the drawer, and soft-close undermount slides add a quieter, smoother motion while hiding the hardware beneath the box. Weight ratings matter for pots and pans, and correct installation depends on measuring the opening, the drawer box depth, and the side clearance the slide requires. In some cases the drawer boxes themselves are replaced with sturdier ones, such as dovetailed plywood or solid wood.
Not every existing drawer can accept every slide. Undermount styles need adequate clearance and a drawer box built to handle them, and thin particleboard boxes held together with staples may not survive the change. If the cabinet frame itself is damaged or out of square, the slides will not run true until that is addressed. Some kitchens in Lake Forest, IL benefit from converting deep base cabinets with doors into stacked pull-out drawers, which makes the contents far easier to reach. This work goes well with organizers and dividers, and with hardware upgrades when doors and pulls are being updated too.
